Gold Country Youth Soccer League
Board
Meeting
July 13, 2006
Minutes
Meeting called to order by Sophia Meyer
at 5:35pm.
Roll Call: Sophia Meyer, Chuck Hemmert,
Cathy Ivazes, Jim Oebker, Steve Schaffer, Sandi Bownas, Thomas Breitter.
District Meeting: District Cup
applications are now available.
Metro: GCU metro team packets are still
in progress. . We are hosting a metro seeding tournament July 29th.
Ore Cart Classic Tournament: Several U14
boys teams have had dropped and need replacements. Scheduling has begun and
refs can be assigned. Sierra College, BRHS, Lyman Gilmore, Ready Springs and
Mautino fields will all be used. Dan V will be contacting everyone for field
assignments and meetings
New Business: Starting this year, any
checks GCYSL writes will be voided if not cashed after the standard banking
period. Voided checks will not be reissued. GCYSL will attempt to contact
check holders when possible prior to voiding checks.
Coaches: Team packets are ready to be started. We need all
board members to work from 5-9pm Tuesday prior to the coaches meeting at the
Superintendent’s building. Steve will send out a notice to all coaches
regarding time and date.
We still need 1 U10 PV coach, we have a
partial AS U12 team, and too many U12 and U14 coaches.
Referees: US Soccer is out of Law Books.
CNRA isn’t getting books, looking for another source. Reedswain and Eurosport
and mentioned as sources.
25 took the ref class, 17 passed. Need
to set details for referee refresher course.
Website: Thomas has linked us to parent
and safety organizations but would like more direction from the board
regarding goals for the league especially in regards to acquiring fields for
GCYSL and Nevada County. Direct statements on our website about our needs
would be especially helpful.
Fields: Our insurance starts August 1st.
Nevada City teams will cost us about $1960.00 to rent this season. Steve
S. will need help moving goals from Deer Creek. We will not be installing a
storage shed at Mautino field because bids have been too expensive. Nets have
been ordered.
We need volunteers to set up fields but
have no progress with our volunteer program as of yet. Steve S. has a system
but no help yet. Scheduling can reflect a field equipment preparation and
removal system relying on teams. The team that is scheduled to remove
equipment will have the last game scheduled for the day and the first game
scheduled for the next week and will be responsible for set up that week.
Registration: Teams have been mostly
formed with some lingering problems as mentioned in the coach’s report. Once
the coaches’ packets are done we will still need help making player passes.
Good of the Game: World Cup soccer was a
treat and the US women’s team will be playing this Saturday.
