GCYSL Board Meeting
May 11,
2006 Minutes
Call to Order: Meeting called to order
by Sophia Meyer at 6:05pm.
Roll Call: Sophia Meyer, Steve Schaffer,
Steve Langley, Jim Oebker, Dan Vielhauer, Cathy Ivazes, and Sandi Bownas.
April Minutes: Steve S. Motioned “To
accept April minutes with the correction to attendance, Dan Vielhauer was
listed as present but was not.” Jim 2nd the motion. All in favor,
motion approved.
District Report:
This year District VI will hold two
metro coaches meetings in August. The first will be for U10-U12, and the
second will be for U14-U19.
The District Referee Coordinator’s
meeting will be held May 16th.
The District Registrar meeting will be
held June 14th. An officer will be in attendance to discuss the
applications of Meagan’s Law to youth soccer.
In July, two E/D classes will be offered
by District VI. One will be in Marysville, and the other will be in Folsom.
Registration:
Board members who cannot make a
registration date are;
May 20th- Sophia, Sandi, Jim
May 27th- Steve S.
June 3rd- Cathy
June 10th- Steve S.
Registration forms will be the same as
last year, allowing only one request. The rest of the process will remain the
same, including fees and refund policy.
Two other businesses at the Children’s
Foundation building are open on Saturdays, our first 4 registration days. They
are aware of our plans and don’t have issues with our use of the parking lot.
We will seal off the scaffolding so kids cannot access and climb on it.
Clinics will be advertised at
registration, offering something for every player of all skill levels. A
goalkeeping clinic for players will be offered. Steve S motioned, “ Any U10
and up GCYSL player who attends our hosted keeper clinic will be reimbursed
$25.00 of the $45.00 fee for the clinic if the player attends a minimum of 3
of the 4 sessions.” Jim 2nd. All in favor.

Cathy spoke with the Cottage Hill
Principal who referred us to the Pleasant Ridge Superintendent of Schools. She
would like GCYSL to contact her with our schedule of need and she will check
with all her schools for a possible U10 field. She also let us know about the
current plan for the undeveloped field between BRHS, Magnolia and Cottage
Hill. GCYSL will need to contact the Bear River Parks and Rec Dept.
Uniforms:
Our contract with Samba runs through
this year. Last year’s package deal was $ 29.95 and this year it is $31.95, an
increase of 10%. We will need to re-negotiate this issue next year.
Referees:
Training flyer is ready for
registration.
Metro:
GCYSL has- 1 comp team, 6 girls teams
and 9 boys teams.
U10= 2 boys teams
U12= 2 boys and 2 girls teams
U14= 3 boys and 1 girls teams
U16= 1 boys and 2 girls teams
U19= 1 boys and 1 girls teams
Ore Cart Classic: 27 teams are enrolled.
22 are girls teams and 5 are boys. 7 of our own club teams are not entered
yet. U14 girls division is full.
Good of the game: USA men’s team plays
in the 2006 World Cup in Germany before our next meeting! Good Luck!
