relieve Hosea in the future.

New Business:
Discussion of whether GCYSL needs a
seeding tournament
Ben! efits- Teams enjoyed the
experience, referees gained early experience, helpful in placing teams in
large brackets, new coaches especially benefited from the experience. Need to
improve- spacing and timing of games, need field marshals, make groups
smaller.
MLS Camps: GCYSL will not use MLS for
camps this year due to better offers from-
-
British Challenge Soccer- who provide
professional teachers
-
Cleats (Our Metro Trainers)- run camps !
as well as specialty clinics
-
Sierra College- wants to start doing
camps
Sophia, Dan V and Dan K will continue to
deal with the camps.
Committee Reports
Fields-The broken goal at Sierra College
has been fixed but now another is breaking.
Steve S has been working with a retired
PG&E worker who wants to bid on install! ing the high nets at Sierra College.
Steve’s research into nets, poles and installation was presented with cost
varying depending on size of netting. The board agrees with Steve that golf
netting would best suit our long-term needs. Total overall pricing should be
around $6,000.00. GCYSL may be able to offset some of this cost with donation
from PG&E with pole installation. Motion by Chuck, 2nd by Sandi, “
GCYSL will install nets at the Sierra College field.” Discussion of cost v
benefits, all in favor. Motion passed.
Steve would like to redo how we pay for
fields. GCYSL should continue paying for striping the fields, but assigning
volunteers (preferably specific families) to set up and take down nets and
flags.
Metro: We should have about 17 metro
teams this year. Try-out dates and times to be determined.
Sierra College will be taking over
scheduling their field. Due to growth in the areas adjacent to this field we
may be losing parking on that street at some time this next year. The softball
field there will be used more also, possibly wanting to install lights on our
net poles if they are strong enough.
Pictures: The new companies soliciting
our league to handle our team photos were all out of town. We will continue
with our current contract with SPORTS Photography in Auburn.
Registration: Sandi would like to see
the development of a pre-school age soccer program, like small clinics, held
outside the soccer season, in order to further develop skills and connections
to soccer prior to our getting them.
Correspondence: Sophia will be preparing
the newsletter to send out January 29th.
Good of the Game: Starting World Cup
Friendlies.
!
Meeting adjourned at 7:20pm.
