District Report: Latest concern about large clubs banning together to do a U10 competetive program through US Club Soccer. Apparently, the District 6 regulations were too restrictive. Representatives discussed and voted to remove the restrictions from comp and metro U10 programs, which will be in effect next year. U10 will continue to play with 8 a side. Coaching coordinators are to contact head coaching coordinator. (Steve L has already done so)
Registration:  We start registering players on May 21st and will run the next 4 Saturdays.Times and jobs were discussed/set. New incomplete form will be passed out to all incomplete registrants.
Metro/Comp: GCYSL has 13 metro teams. Old snagged uniform jerseys are to be replaced by Xara with some discounts given for undamaged used jerseys traded in as well.Ore Cart Classic has 20 teams signed up and anticipate more. Good responses from returning teams. 1 complaint about referees last year.
Coaching: Steve L has emailed all coaches and also sent flyers. About 1/3 have responded. He will remind them again about calling players and registration changes. He will also see if any coaches can help with registration. F clinic scheduled for last weekend in June. No E clinic is scheduled for this year. Almost all coaches have lisences. Keeper course was well received last year, want to offer it again. Suggested doing a keeper clinic for rec kids this year with new trainers.
Referees: Assigner course- when is it? (need to get this info to Jim.) Lynn Williams confirmed to teach referee class this year, Bob Britz is unavailable. Dave Pistone has offered to pass out flyers at the high schools.
Discussed Jim's proposal to raise pay of referees this year. Motion by Dan K, " Motion to approve referee pay proposal." Discussion of wage comparison with other leagues as well as within GCYSL. After addressing the needs and nuances of each age group, original motion was withdrawn and a new motion was proposed by DanK, " On recreational pay proposal, GCYSL will leave U6, U8 and U10 referee pay at the current scale. For U12 rec, we will do the proposed pay raise with referees running a 2 man system receiving pay a the center scale. However, if 3 referees are available, we will increase pay to the proposed scale. For U14 recreational games, referees will receive the proposed pay increase. Referee pay for metro and competetive U10 and U12 games will remain the same. Referee pay for metro/comp U14 games will increase to $20 for lines and $25 for center. Referee pay for metro/comp U16 and U19 will be raised as proposed." Ste! ve S 2nd the motion. All approved, motion passed.
Fields: Steve S has been contacting each field coordinator in the community. Our new toilet company is working out great. Scotten keeps getting vandalised. We need a new shed and a central place for it so Steve S does not have to continue to store equiptment at his house.. We also need a back up game field for Deer Creek U10 rec and competetive programs especially when it's field is flooded, discussion of Ready Springs , and Union Hill for releif. Schools are now requiring 2 weeks notice on all usage. Reserving Ready Springs for F clinic and Lymon Gilmore for MLS camps in July.
