Call to Order: Sophia Meyer called the meeting to order at 6:03pm

Roll Call: Present – Sophia Meyer, Dan Vielhauer, Steve Schaffer, Steve Langley, Jim Oebker, Jeff Moore, Dan Kumetat, Thomas Breiter, Sandi Bownas, Cathy Ivazes

 

President: The board previously unanimously selected Sophia Meyer.

Acceptance of Minutes: Steve S moved to accept, Cathy 2nd, Dan K abstained.

Correspondence:  Treasurer Hosea Bostic will be leaving GCYSL’s Board of Directors this year after 7 years of dedicated service.

Also: Bonfil (parent), NCCN about site hosting, Lease for office to be renewed.

Outgoing: Newsletter and Coaches’ Letter to be drawn up by Sophia and Steve L.

A parent wants to do a swap shop at registration, exchanging soccer items for free. (Tbd)

 

Uniforms: Last year GCYSL introduced the U6 program to a new uniform with success. Reported problems were with the reversible jerseys.

Motion by Dan K: “ GCYSL approves a full phase in of MLS jerseys for all age groups with U14 optional.” Dan V 2nd. Approved.

 

Tournaments: Discussion of using the first game of the season as a fun tournament for age groups U6 & U14, and as a seeding tournament for age groups U8-U12. Dan V offered to coordinate this tournament. (Need to arrange fields before moving forward)

 

Fields: Discussion of reorganization of some field usage due to problems with Nevada City fields such as vandalism and goal relocation, poor maintenance and reseeding. Considering moving all U10 games to LWW area fields. Also, more schools are requesting/requiring portable toilets for practices and games. Suggested detailed work schedule sign-up list at registration for field improvement and development. Also suggested need to set up a committee outside of the GCYSL Board of Directors to begin the process of seeking property for GCYSL to purchase for development.

 

Coaches: We can begin signing up for coaching clinics through District 6 now.

 

Referees:  We still need to recruit and renew more refs. Need experienced refs for Ore Cart Classic 1st weekend in August. Will do 2 ref classes this year. Jim will order books through FIFA. Discussion of GCYSL reimbursing returning referees for renewal fee.

Motion by Dan V: “GCYSL will pay returning referees renewal fee with proof that renewal is complete.” Jim 2nd. Approved. Payments will be made after the first 3 games or 3 weeks of refereeing during new season.

Jan 13, 2005 Registration planning meeting

After careful review of GCYSL's registration process, several changes have been proposed for the 2005-06 soccer season.

1. enter registration forms as they come in

2. $20 insurance cost is not refundable at all

3.  $75 registration, early bird discount is $10

4. NO requests after early registration

5. Requests for refunds must be in writing
