Call to Order:  Dan K. called the meeting to order at 6:19

Roll Call :  Present – Dan Kumetat, Sophia Meyer, Dan Vielhauer, Steve Langley, Hosea Bostic, Cathy Ivazes, Jeff Moore, Steve Schaffer

Acceptance of Minutes:  Jeff moved to accept both May & June’s minutes.  Steve L 2nd.  Approved:

Committee Reports:

Treasurer: The office copy of Quickbooks is up to date thru June.  Hosea will check on whether Nevada Country Farm Supply for Sierra College has been paid.  There’s also some confusion on the DTI bill.  Hosea will verify his checks to the invoices.

Metro:  U16s & U14s are filled for the tournament.  We’re short 5 teams in U12, with a loss of income of about $1600.  Steve S. will see about having the porti-potties at Gilmore moved close to the fence so they can be serviced for the tournament, and will get a porti-potty at Ready Springs.  Dan K will check with the owner of the building about making sure the outside lights are on for Friday night’s registration.

A message should go out to the Metro Coaches:  board members will not make special trips to Sac this year to carry down or bring back registration paperwork.  That will be up to the individual coach.

Registration:  Late registration will be over this Saturday.  Cathy expects a busy day.  It looks like many U8 girls are requesting to play together.  She asked that we explore an all girl’s group again in the future, since this year is already set.  Dan K asked her to add this to a future agenda as new business so we can discuss.

Referee:  Dan K is still the acting referee coordinator.  14 people took & passed the test in the first clinic.   The next clinic is Aug 2, 5, 9, 12.  35 people are already signed up, and the class could be as big as 50. Dan will be doing the assigning for the tournament.  He needs volunteers.

Coaching:  Need 3-4 coaches for U6s, other so far we look good.  Our 2nd F clinic will be next weekend.  The goalkeeper coaching clinic was a big success.  The all coaches meeting will be the 26th & 28th of July.  Shirts & balls need to be ordered.

Fields:  Steve turned in a list of desired purchases.  Corner flags & a set of goals were not budgeted, but our equipment is deteriorating.  Jeff to look at purchasing portable canvas sand bags with handles to anchor the goals.  Jeff moved to purchase the unbudgeted items.  Steve S 2nd.  Approved with the caveat that the ceiling of the additional purchases is $2500.  Steve asked that the web page be updated to ask for people to help with field prep each week.  Also, Bear River needs to be contacted about lining the fields for the tournament.

Scotten can’t be used until Sept 3.  Gilmore is available Thursday evenings until the 22nd.  Then we have it starting Aug 16 M-F from 4-8 and Saturdays starting Sept 4.  Hennessey is the same, except that we can use it now.  We don’t know if we’ll be charged for practice this year.  Ready Springs is a flat $45 per week.  The Nevada City schools need an additional certificate of insurance before we can turn in an application.  Each application costs $25 per school to process.  Steve S will turn in one application for practice times, and then a later one for games.  We’ll request the fields for 3 hours/night.  Many coaches want to use the field at 3pm right after school.  Steve S doesn’t think the schools will allow that.  He’ll ask what the available times are.

Girls Program: Auburn wants to know if we want to host a flight of the seeding tournament.  Mike Melas is going to be our girl’s coordinator.  This should be turned over to him.

New Business:  Our computer is getting old and feeble.  Sophia moved to buy a new computer, not to exceed $1000.  Steve L 2nd.  Approved.

U6 refs.  Steve S moved to continue to have refs for the U6 games, and to require the coaches to stay on the sidelines.  Cathy 2nd.  Approved.  Additional discussion was the need for qualified adults to stop by during the season as often as possible to check on those young refs.

Good of the Game:  The El Dorado Hills Crew U13 boys team are the Far West Regional champs, with a local player:  Blue Smith.

Meeting adjourned.
