May 9, 2002

Call to Order: Dan called the meeting to order at 6:25.

Roll Call: Christine Lawicki, Dan Vielhauer, Steve Langley, Michelle Ingram, Guy Fleming, Dan Kumetat, Sophia Meyer, Hosea Bostic

Introduction of Guests: none

Acceptance of Minutes: Steve moved to accept the minutes. Christine seconded. Approved. April 22nd meeting minutes to be added to April minutes. Christine moved. Steve seconded. Approved.

Correspondence: Web Hits: 940 to GCYSL so far this year and 1336 to GCU. We received something from PMG sports about kits & first aid clinics.

Treasurer’s Report: monthly financials

Committee Reports: Class I-more discussion about SuperClubs. Watch the playing league website for more information.

Metro: The Class VI Soccerfest is currently planned to be held on Nov 23rd, which will mean that District Cup will remain the first weekend in Dec.

Referee: Refs needing an anmesty course(those that have let their license lapse for several years), can attend part of a normal course and retake the test. Discussion: potential refs enrolled in the ref clinics will need to write a check in advance to GCYSL. If they complete the course, and actually ref, they will get their money back. The checks should be sent to Hosea. They will be cashed. When the ref completes the required number of games, the fee will be added to their referee check. The referees will be paid by check. We will use up the existing black t-shirts with our U8 referees. Christine will look into buying official referee shirts for $15. The referees can "borrow" them for the season. At the end of the season, they will be returned, or the referee will have $15 deducted from their last pay check. Dan made a motion instead to charge $35 up front for the shirt and the clinic. If the ref completes the course and refs the games, they get $25 back. Socks and shorts will be the referees responsibility. Sophia seconded. Approved. Christine will look into moving up the refresher course.

United Cerebral Palsy tournament for Class VI players. Aug 3/4. Fee $250. Information on the District VI web site.

Registration: Dan will send out an email to coaches to request help at registration. We need a master list of birth certificates for existing players. We will begin office hours in June on Tues and Thurs from 3:30-6:00 and Sat from 9-11.

Fields: We need to get permits before school is out. Scotten and Gilmore are secured, although we'll share Scotten for 2 days a week with Junior Miners. We'll be charged for 7-Hills and Deer Creek use. We'll talk to George Olive about Chicago Park as a possible Girl's location. Girls' fields will be discussed again at the next meeting.

New Business: Sophia brought in quotes for business card size magnets to be handed out at registration with the phone number, email address and web address of GCYSL. The cheapest ones off the web are $.20 each, plus a set-up charge & shipping/handling. There are also minimum purchase quantities required which are greater than we need. Staples has blank business card magnets for $.20 + tax, which would come out to a cheaper overall price. Approved.

Ed Scofield from the Fair is thinking of some other potential fundraising ideas for GCYSL.

Michelle will set up the pictures for GCYSL.
